It is relatively easy to read, however the plots are also pretty small as is the information with them. As always, tuning by noise and an SWR meter is good; using an analyzer is better This has lots of information on the different antenna configurations and their likely impedance values.
This book, written by a Buddipole expert, is recommended to increase ones understanding of the Buddipole and Buddistick. Reviews Summary for Buddipole in the Field book by B. Getting Started With Your Buddipole
I found that group extremely helpful when getting started with my Buddipole and wanted to ensure that you got a mention there. The heights provided by the telescoping masts or shockcord mast are handy, however it is not feasible to think that users can routinely get it to a 25 foot height.
Needing a bit more power and battery life for voice. I done some experimenting to see if I could have my coil taps set to points where for buvdipole in the field I could extend the whips fully.
Bad cable or connector or something? An additional method that could be mentioned is the use of something like an aluminum tube chain link fence top rail as a mounting method.

Jonathan, I read the book a few years ago. I have lots of notes on my QRZ page. Cameron, thanks for the supportive comments and the assistance provided to Jose. Are you a MeWe user? Ths will help to get the resistance closer to 50 ohms. Buddipole set up on the beach at Shoalwater. But if if I had to use it as a vertical for it to work, I have much better, quicker and dependable verticals to use without all the fuss.

F — J Member Spotlight: Keep up the reports and videos, i love it 73 s. The final product is in nuddipole homebrew album on Facebook—steve. I could be out there hours trying to tune it. The trick with my set-up was to get the longer whips. A week ago, I gave up on the 10th trip to adjust the antenna whips.
By the 6th time of adjusting the antenna lengths I have had it! Field Radio now also has a group on MeWe. Check a Callsign on QRZ. That would certainly do better than a couple of beads. The only thing I would say is go ahead and get the longer whips…they make tuning the Buddipole so much easier in the horizontal dipole config.

My only complaint is not being budxipole to work 80 meters. Can you print a free copy of the pdf file available at buddipole. This is where the traditional ham creativity comes in. The Buddipole and Buddistick are fine antennas.
Portable in bag, the tube and the long bag with tripod. I love hiking and radio too, but fail on the CW. Thanks Barry for the kind comments.
Thanks for the great review and application notes. All this has happened on the roof of my apartment building. As with the antenna–experiment and see what works! Do yourself a favour and familiarise yourself with the settings to use your Buddipole as buvdipole vertical which you will find via the resources I listed earlier.

Would you recommend the longer whip with the Buddistick also? I also do QRPp but only when I want to see how signals get out. I was expecting those same photographs to be in color in the book, as well as plot lines on buddipile graphs. This was because the instructions that came with the antenna were focused on the horizontal dipole configuration and did not cover other options. I will look forward to hearing how you get on.
